The stances of His Highness, president of the club, are unforgettable. They obviously manifest his sagacious mind and knowledge of the needs of the club. Moreover, the powerful backup he rendered to the first soccer team in the decisive stages of the league championship of 83/84 season when the team won the title with merit is also unforgettable. The same scene is repeated in 2002/2003 season when His Highness Sheikh/ Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan backed up the first soccer team. His Highness attended all the matches of the critical stages of the league, met with players, and urged them to win. Once more, Al-Ain won the league thereby breaking a win record (8 titles). In fact, Some call this league championship the championship of Sheikh/ Mohamed Bin Zayed, becauseHis Highness had the largest role in winning the league title. And in the period between these two championships, the support of His Highness to the club did not cease. God willing! The support of His Highness to Al-Ain Club will go on, because this support will give the club a tremendous impetus to make achievements. This endless support of His Highness is really not limited to the soccer team, but His Highness always meets the other teams of the club and urges them to do well and win. With the passing of years, the original ideas of His Highness and his incessant support to the club have led to the formation of Al-Ain Honorary Board. After this important quantum leap, Al-Ain Club witnessed a golden era and it started to win championships, especially with regard to the first soccer team, thereby asserting that success generates success. His Highness Sheikh/ Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, participated in the march and the leadership of Al-Ain Club for some time, and specifically in the early 80’s. His presence was fruitful during this brief period when His Highness was president of Football Federation. For the common good of the UAE soccer and to avoid a double post, His Highness resigned his post in Al-Ain Club and devoted himself to the presidency of Football Federation. His Highness Sheikh/ Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has been vice-chairman of the board of directors of Al-Ain Club since he was elected on 18 March 1983 by Al-Ain board of directors chaired by His Highness Sheikh/ Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. From that date and until His Highness resigned this post on 2 May, 1984, the presence of His Highness was fruitful, because he enriched Al-Ain sport movement through his effective presence with the teams, attendance of matches and events, meeting players and giving advanced views. On May 13, 1984 the board of directors of Al-Ain Club convened under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh/ Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and accepted the resignation of His Highness Sheikh/ Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. The Board members considered this resignation a loss to the club. However, the public interest and the UAE soccer are more important than the interest of the club. His Highness Sheikh/ Hazzaa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, vice-president of Al-Ain Club and chairman of the Honorary Board, shall always be a significant symbol and a landmark in the history of Al-Ain Club. Throughout twenty years and since he assumed the post of vice-chairman of the club board of directors in 1984, His Highness has never ceased his endless backup to the club. His Highness has played a great role in the tremendous leaps made by Al-Ain Club until the club reached the rank of leadership. His Highness Sheikh/ Hazzaa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan was not only an influential member in the management of Al-Ain Club, but he was also a field leader of all the successes of Al-Ain, or as Al-Ain fans call His Highness “Maestro of Al-Ain Achievements”.
