The excellence of Al-Ain was not only restricted to football, but it covered other games, at the head of them was Al-Ain handball, which had made unforgettable achievements and foreign championships that no other team in the UAE had made, notably the Arab Clubs Championship /81 in Amman, Jordan. This was the sole achievement made by the UAE handball at the Arab. In addition, Al-Ain handball team won the First GCC Cup Winners Championship/81 which was organized by Al-Ain, and the team also won several times the league championship and President’s Cup.
Al-Ain handball team contributed in the spread of this game in the United Arab Emirates. The handball game began with the first Handball Schools League that was held in January 74. And on 20 May 1975 Al-Ain handball team played a friendly with Muaaskar Al-Shabab for the purpose of spreading the game, and another match with physical education teachers on March 7 of the same year (the result: 21/15). On April 8, 1975 Al-Ain handball team played Abu Dhabi Club and won the match 14/11. On May 8, 1975, a season-end festival was held and included school teams. Al-Ain handball team played Palestinian Higher Council team, UAE branch, and won 23/17. All these matches were held for the purpose of spreading the handball game nationwide among the UAE clubs.
On formation, Al-Ain handball team consisted of Wael Abu Hajleh, Subait Anber, Rabie Ibrahim, Mohammed Sharara, Khalfa Al-Otaiba, Mohammed Amin, Abdul Razzaq, Nafez Abu Hajli, Abdul Rida Issac, and Abdu Darwish.
The handball game was officially inaugurated in the activities of Al-Ain Club following the resolution of the club board of directors issued on May 8, 1975. On September 7, 1975 and following the formation of Handball Association,Al-Ain handball team played a demonstration match with Sharjah team. Al-Ain handball team then was represented by Hashem Issac, Mohammed Sharara, Rabie Ibrahim, Subait Anber, Khalaf Al-Otaiba, Abdu Drawish, Yuosuf Adwa, Matar Khalfan, Nader Abu Hajla, Saeed Mohammed, Abdul Naser Ali. After, in the 75/76 season, Al-Ain handball team participated in the first refresher tournament, and the players Hashim Issac, Rabie Ibrahim, and Subait Anber were selected for the first national handball team.
